Marcus is a Nationally Certified Addiction Counselor, NCAC-II, who has been helping men and women struggling with addiction and problematic substance use behaviors for the better part of a decade. He strives to bring his clients a creative and effective blend of experience, expertise, and recovery-oriented counseling with the goal of his clients having a better quality of life. He recognizes that recovery work is difficult and he shows up for his clients with a genuine attitude of empathy and acceptance, with healing and growth as his focus.
Marcus is a strong believer in the resilience of man, and his or her capacity to transverse adversity towards a path of growth and self-realization. To be welcomed by his clients in joining them on their path towards recovery is a privilege highly regarded and honored by Marcus. He has a passion for his profession and for recovery.
Marcus has extensive experience in counseling a wide range of clients, including those diagnosed with both substance use and mental health disorders, athletes diagnosed with Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) who self-medicate with drugs and alcohol, those experiencing the trauma of homelessness, Veterans struggling with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and depression, and many other co-occurring combinations of emotional symptoms and problematic substance use behaviors. He focuses on providing recovery-oriented services through integrated evidence-based practices. He understands the value of collaboration with specialized service providers to coordinate services and ensure that his clients are improving the quality of their lives
Marcus believes in meeting his clients on their terms with how they want to address their problematic substance use. This means for some, they are focused on absolute abstinence, while for others, it means assisting them through harm reduction strategies to minimize the risk to their physical and emotional well-being. You will never feel judged or shamed for how they express their desire to make substance use oriented behavior changes.
Marcus’ previous work experience in the field of substance about treatment has been both broad and unique. He has provided long-term and short-term counseling. He has also provided case management services, which have included substance abuse screening, assessment, intake, program orientation, treatment planning, and aftercare support.
Marcus’s educational background includes and Associate degree in Behavioral Science with an emphasis in Drug and Alcohol Studies, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology.
Marcus is happily married and the father of four amazing young adults! When the time permits, he enjoys traveling overseas to explore and discover different places, people, and cultures.
